Representative Wilson and the Syrian American Coalition Call for Lifting Sanctions on Syria
U.S. Republican Representative Joe Wilson, in collaboration with the Syrian American Coalition, called for the repeal of sanctions imposed on Syria under the "Caesar Act", as part of an escalating campaign to pressure Congress.
The call came through a post by Representative Wilson on the "X" platform, where he wrote: “Congress must support President Donald Trump and approve a complete and comprehensive repeal of the Caesar Act.” Wilson also praised the efforts of the U.S. special envoy to Syria, Thomas Barak, considering them to contribute to "promoting peace in Syria and Lebanon".
It is noted that this position is not new from Wilson, who had published a similar call last month, asserting that "the time has come to completely lift the Caesar Act imposed on Syria", describing it as "a priority for President Donald Trump's administration".
For its part, the Syrian American Coalition confirmed its continuation of the campaign demanding the lifting of sanctions. The organization published a statement on "X" stating: "With determination and resolve, we continue our work to lift the sanctions and open the way for peace and prosperity in Syria".
It is worth mentioning that the "Syrian American Coalition for Peace and Prosperity" is a non-profit organization aimed at "promoting peace, prosperity, and cultural understanding between the Syrian and American communities through advocacy, education, and humanitarian initiatives".
